Penny Carkeek - Landscapes
Penny studied at the Norwich Art School and Leicester College of Art before moving to Wisbech to teach art at the High School. After a break to have a family she returned to teach both art and textiles at the now co-educational Grammar School where she stayed as Head of Textiles until her retirement.
Penny’s love of art, textiles and the natural world merges together in her ‘stitch painting’ technique: the images are created using a water colour technique obtained by the use of dye on unbleached calico, which is then fixed. The textural quality is then enhanced with free machine embroidery to give dimension and life to the images.
2nd – 28th November 2008 at the Angles Theatre, Wisbech.
Opening reception: 6-8pm on Sunday the 2nd November.
