Gill Repper

Gill Repper didn’t really take up painting in earnest until her children had left home. Before then her early attempts had been seriously compromised by her young sons constantly adding their own brushstrokes!

In 1991 she attended a watercolour class with a friend and they both became very enthusiastic. Over the next few years they held joint exhibitions and sold enough paintings to keep themselves happy and restocked in materials. They then widened their horizons and took off for weeklong courses all over the UK, dabbling in pastels and acrylics. “My father was quite a keen amateur sketcher so I probably decided at a very early age to emulate him!”

In the 10 years that followed all these enthusiastic brushes with mixed media, Gill only found the time to paint occasionally. Teaching and dramatic productions took up most of her time and energy. Last year Gill hit the big 60, promptly retired and rediscovered the fun and pleasure of art. Her greatest inspiration comes from Norfolk: sea, beaches, boats, cottages and wide horizons.
