Louise Stebbing
Louise Stebbing has exhibited extensively throughout the UK and won several awards for her work. She is influenced by her surroundings and much of her work depicts the Fens, exotic places she has visited and nature. Often using traditional techniques and processes, at the same time experimenting with new ideas, her etchings are atmospheric and her linocuts bright and colourful.
Louise’s recent work has involved an investigation into the theme of music: through complex lines cut into lino she has created that are alive with movement and emanate the patterns of sound.
Louise was born in Tydd, Cambridgeshire where she returned to in 1992 after several years away at college and work, and a year travelling around the world. She gained a BA(hons) degree at Sheffield University before going on to complete a Postgraduate course in Printmaking at Camberwell School of Art in London. A qualified teacher with several years experience of teaching both adults and children, Louise now runs Skylark Studios in Tydd, an Art Gallery and workshop.
