Road safety poster project at Elm Primary School

This project, funded by Fenland Links, was devised to help raise awareness of road safety, especially in rural areas. The aim was to create a dialogue with the young people and encourage them to express their ideas and concerns regarding road safety, working through the process from discussion to production. The children we worked with already knew how to be safe on the road and this was their chance to create a poster aimed at drivers… and they had lots to say!

This was our first visit to Elm Primary School and we met lots of lovely young artists who had some strong concerns about the road outside their school, speeding, drink driving, and the safety of their pets and other animals.

Below are just some of the wonderful posters that the children designed… and some lovely and interesting quotes too!

“Do not run over animals. Cats do not have a lot of sense, dogs have lots of sense. Rabbits have no sense”
“Watch out for animals because people love them”
“Stop at Zebra crossings and other ones too”
“If you go round a corner really fast you may hurt yourself”
“It would be better if you walked sometimes and didn’t drive as much as before”
“If you see a dead animal pick it up and throw it in a bush”
“Stop for animals so you can help kittens turn into cats”
