Gill Repper - Solo Show - 2 Aug - 4 Sept 2009

A new exhibition opens at the Angles Theatre, Wisbech on the 1st August. This solo show is a collection of local artist Gill Repper’s finest work.

Gill Repper didn’t really take up painting in earnest until her children had left home. Before then her early attempts had been seriously compromised by her young sons constantly adding their own brushstrokes! In 1991 she attended a watercolour class and became a very enthusiastic painter. Over the next few years she took part in joint exhibitions and sold enough paintings to keep herself in materials. She then widened her horizons and took off for week-long courses all over the UK, dabbling in pastels and acrylics. Gill said “My father was quite a keen amateur sketcher so I probably decided at a very early age to emulate him!”In the 10 years that followed Gill only found the time to paint occasionally. Teaching for many years at Wisbech Grammar and being an enthusiastic participant of many dramatic productions took up most of her time. Last year Gill hit the big 60, promptly retired and rediscovered the joy of art. She takes the greatest pleasure in finding inspiration from the Norfolk landscape, sea, beaches, boats, cottages and wide horizons all inspiring her greatly.

Solo Show by Gill Repper will be showing from 1st August to 5th September at the Angles Theatre in Wisbech.

On Sunday 2nd August from 6-8pm there will be an opening reception, if you wish to attend please RSVP info@atelier-east.co.uk You are welcome to come along and meet the artist.
