Littleport Spoken Word Workshop and Slam

Littleport Spoken Word Workshop and Slam

Storytelling, Rap and Poetry for 13 – 16 year olds

If you love telling stories, rap or poetry, then this spoken word workshop is for you! You’ll have the chance to create & perform, under the guidance of two of the country’s best Spoken Word artists:

Hollie McNish

Hollie McNish is a poet and spoken word artist, who has performed at Glastonbury Festival, on Channel 4, BBC Radio 1 Extra & at the Southbank Centre in London. She’s produced two CDs of poetry and was UK Spoken Word Slam Champion in 2009.

Inja

Inja is an emcee and freestyle rapper, and has worked with hip hop, drum n bass, dubstep and grime artists, and has toured all over the UK, Europe and the world.

The Workshop:

We’ll start off with exclusive performances from Hollie and Inja, and an introduction to spoken word. Then, you’ll get the chance to explore your own stories, using your surroundings and some awesome writing games to help you think about what it is that you want to say.

Then, the writing starts!

After lunch, we’ll focus on performance, with drama and vocal exercises to get you ready for your performance. Finally, we’ll finish with a Poetry Slam hosted by Inja, where you can choose to share the stuff you’ve created.

So bring your stories, your insight and your words (and don’t forget your packed lunch!) and we’ll see you there!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Refreshments will be available at this event, but attendees will be expected to bring their own packed lunches.
